Karlie Kloss

Karlie Kloss
I like misting my face with rose water in morning. It's so refreshing! It's moisturizing and great for the winter when my skin gets really dry.

I like going to the bathhouse. In Russia, it’s a very big tradition. There are two in Moscow [that I go to]: One has been around for 135 years. And the second one is basically like a brick oven. They make it hot—all night long they put wood in the stove—and then the construction of the room itself is very different. You go upstairs and there is a wooden platform with gaps to let the steam through. Nowhere else in the world has anything like this—the temperature goes up to 110 degrees.  It’s so good for your skin…it’s not like a steam room, which is always the same temperature—there’s circulation, so the air is clean.

Salma Hayek

Salma Hayek

"Don’t wash your face in the morning, at all, never. Because at night your skin is rebuilding some of the oils that you need to keep your skin young, and it balances the pH. You can splash it with water, do something mild – but you don’t want to get rid of that. And if your skin is dirty in the morning, it means you didn’t clean well at night.”

"I do a honey mask a couple of times a week. I get it at Whole Foods - it's called Really Raw Honey. It's calming and it's nourishing. I can eat it too! It's amazing what your diet can do for your skin. I eat as many raw foods as I can. I have fruit for breakfast and a salad for lunch. I'm a vegetarian and I don't eat wheat, so I'm the world's most annoying dinner guest, but it really helps my skin."

Jerry Hall

Jerry Hall:
“My mother was very keen on olive oil. Rubbing olive oil all over your hair and your skin–that was one of her big beauty tips and I still do that. Every now and then I just pour it on and leave it during the summer. Just give it a good soak. I mean, you can’t do it all the time, but every now and then I do.”

"For removing my mascara, I like using coconut oil. As a moisturizer, I like Dr. Alkaites' cream or Bulgarian rose oil—you know, things that are organic and natural for the skin, and won't just sit on it. Having great skin also has a lot to do with what you eat—if you eat junk, it's going to show. I live in New York and when I go out to eat I'll pick healthy places like Pure Food and Wine, Organic Avenue, Angelica Kitchen—there are so many spots."

Dita Von Teese

Dita Von Teese
Dita starts every morning with the Glowing Green Smoothie made of 70 per cent green foods – such as spinach, romaine lettuce, rocket, coriander and parsley – and 30 per cent fruit, such as pears, apples and bananas.

‘I've trained my body to enjoy things that are healthy. If you stop eating sugar, your body doesn't want sugar anymore’ she said.

‘I haven't had a soda in 15 years!’
‘I drink green smoothies with spinach, kale, and dark leafy greens mixed with fruit. Then something salady for lunch and then I can eat what I want at night. Ever since I stopped eating a big breakfast of eggs, toast and cereal, I feel so much better.’
Everyone asks me for the secret to good skin. Put down the cigarettes, slather on the sunscreen, get your beauty sleep, and drink your greens!

"I think that exfoliation is the key to beautiful skin, I really do. I use scrubing gloves every day in the shower. They just make you glow and get your blood flowing… Your skin is your biggest organ! It’s important to slough off dead cells all the time. For example, today I flew in on a red eye from L.A. and slept for four hours. So, I took a steam shower with essential oils and I scrubbed my skin, conditioned my hair, and I used the Clarisonic—just that gets your blood flowing. Your skin is flushed, awake, and alive. I’m a big believer in that type of thing. Like, if I had to go to a big event, a couple hours before, I’d take a crazy-hot bath with tons of salts and oils a few hours before. But I do more than that—I take a couple of baths a week where I use a whole box of epsom salts and either a bottle of hydrogen peroxide or a packet of baking soda. Equal parts salt and hydrogen peroxide. It makes you sweat all of the toxins out and all of the bad stuff. I learned about it from a hippie-natural-amazing pediatrician, actually, for when kids get sick."

"I rinse my hair with apple cider vinegar, and it takes all the product out. You can pour apple cider vinegar in your bath too. I’m really obsessed with what you can put in your bathtub—I am a bath person, but only in a sort of detox-y way. I get too antsy sitting in there for too long. I’ll put oatmeal in my coffee grinder, and pour that powder in my tub. Super good for your skin. You have skin like a baby! And I put Greek yogurt on my face—you know, the 0% Greek yogurt, the Fage. You just scoop it out—it’s all cold when you put it on—and by the time it’s so warm that you don’t want it on your face anymore, you take it off. It’s really good for you—I mean, your skin looks so good. It hydrates because of the milk, but the lactic acid just gently takes the thinnest finest layer of skin down. And it’s cheap; you can get it at the bodega."

"I prefer more minimal skincare. When I was younger—when you’re going through that period of trying everything to try to make your skin better and it actually makes it worse—I learned that the best thing you can do is steam your face and use a warm flannel [washcloth] when you’re in the bath. "

Use raw white potato to reduce eye bags and black circles. Place strips of grated potato under your eyes or cut a thin slice of potato and then cut it in half. Put a half slice under each eye and leave it there for 20 minutes. Even better juice one small potato, dip cotton balls into the juice and place on your gently closed eyes for 10-15 minutes.

"What I do the most is drink green tea, every morning, and drink a lot of mineral water—not tap water—the best is Volvic. I don’t smoke; I don’t drink alcohol ever. I grew up with my mother saying if you want to stay beautiful for as long as possible don’t do any of that, and my mom is so beautiful—she is sixty-one and she looks like she is forty-five. "At night, I always wash with a sensitive skin cleanser but in the morning I just rinse with water to avoid stripping away all the natural oils. "

"I drink a lot of water, and I've never had coffee. I think caffeine can be really bad for your skin. And I don't get facials, ever.I think they damage your skin. People are getting peels and dermabrasion, and anything with the word "abrasion" doesn't work for me. I also think a lot of plastic surgery hurts your skin."

"My mother always told me to put yogurt on my skin, especially on the face for hydration. Also In the Indian culture, a head massage is very common. So whenever I get free time I try going for one. It is definitely worth trying because it has a way of calming your mind.”

"You take a strawberry, bite off the end, and then rub the strawberry around your face. It’s like a nice enzyme treatment, and there’s a natural scrub from the seeds."
